Abstract

In Brazil, the constructive processes considered "unconventional" used in the construction of economic housing is composed of massive walls of reinforced concrete, which is the assembly of forms that are filled with concrete with entrained air already having built the facilities, in which the seal and structure are composed of a single element. The air entrained in the concretes, although it reduces the compressive strength, represents gains if compared with the conventional concretes, therefore, the reduction of the specific mass represents a lower cost in the foundation and a better thermal and acoustic insulation. However, the air entrained can pose risks to the structure's durability. Therefore, the susceptibility of this type of concrete to the harmful agents, among them carbonation, must be studied. The objective of this research was to verify the advance of the carbonation front, which is indicative of the susceptibility of the reinforced concrete structure in relation to the durability.
